ASL Instructor Proficiency Assessment
Updated June 1, 2016
Effective 2015 anyone teaching ASL courses for high school credit is required to pass a proficiency assessment.
The CT State Department of Education has defined proficiency requirements for a "qualified instructor" as it pertains to the ASL statute (defined below). SLIP representatives are on this committee providing input. The CT State Department of Education and the ASL Stakeholders committee met in December 2015 to review the "qualifying" process. Revisions have been made to the assessment and approved by the CT Board of Education. Registration for the current assessment is now available online.
